3.15 Pure Sorcery

Torus, Nolan, Mel and Dena stopped at the courtyard entrance to assess the scene, pondering the best vantage point for their assignment.
"Top of the bleachers?" Nolan pointed toward the vacant spot up against the back wall, beneath the shade of an old oak tree. "We can sit back and see how it unfolds, in safety."
Torus glanced up towards the chosen spot, it was a good idea.
"Let's go!" He led the way through the crowds, up the steps, unsure himself how to penetrate the situation unfolding on the dance floor. Goddesses were something he knew little about, but he knew they were evil, and even though Mel spoke so confidently of her talents, Eden wasn't perfect, he knew that, too.

As Medena and Hedena returned to the celebration grounds, Firelight were ending their set and applause filled the arena, as if the king himself was on stage! Furious, Medena stormed through the gates, just as the crowds hushed, granting Min a graceful entrance on stage.
"This is OUTRAGEOUS!!" She snapped, stopped in her tracks.
         "IT’S DISGUSTING!" Hedena chimed.
For a moment the sisters stood in stupor at the unfolding scene, stunned and in shock. It wasn’t just the scene on stage, no one barely noticed them standing there, either.

"Thank you for letting us play for you on your fabulous stage!" Min's voice was powerful, cheers and whistles erupted all around. "It is with great pleasure that we are able to celebrate with you" she continued amidst the cheers and applause, she wasn't lying. "It is with great joy that I may introduce to you to our next musical act from Mu! Please welcome, The Crystallites!"

"Come meet my friends." Neter tugged Eden's hand, the changing set would be a good time to get to know her better, to introduce her to their wine. He didn't intend to lead her on, he had genuine feelings for her, somewhere deep down inside of her cold façade there was still a tender heart. He had to reassure himself, feelings of lust weren't a crime, he genuinely wanted to see her relax, he knew what she was up to.
Eden didn't need to be coaxed. He led her off the dance floor to the wine bar by the side of the stage and picked up one of the flasks, reading the glyphs on the side.
"Moon Slip Vineyards" he translated it for her. "One of the finest vineyards in Anur! Do you like wine?"
"Yes…" Eden felt her cheeks heat up, there was something irresistible about the god of Death. Her pulse quickened as he poured her a goblet of wine, it was aromatic, pungent, as if it was giving off a vapor, it wasn’t anything like the wine she knew. She raised the glass to inhale the rich aroma, it smelled good, she dared to take a sip, the taste in her mouth was sensational. She took another sip, it was strong, yet dare she? If she drank it would she be yet another degree of consciousness away from her assigned duties? From the corner of her eye, a flash of white caught her attention through the crowds, it was the Unicorn, suddenly in plain view.
The Unicorn turned to look at her, spooking her a little, she looked away. It was stealing her attention, she knew the myths and legends. Up until today, she never had a reason to believe them... But today, here they were, in flesh and blood, the god of Death and his snowy white horned beast. And Atalon was allowing it?
"It's safe to look at it, don't believe the lies."
Eden felt silly and glanced at the majestic animal again, relieved to hear it, troubled on a very deep level. There were accumulating problems with everything she knew here today. Not only was the god of Death very different from how she imagined him to be, the horned beast had no horn.
"The books have you riding a Unicorn" she pointed out. "I don't see a horn."
"Come" Neter held out his hand. "I'll introduce you to him."
Unable to resist his temptations, Eden followed Neter through the Lemurian camp, forgetting her assignment once again.

"Wow!" She gushed as the Unicorn gently nuzzled her hand. It was an amazing animal! It was huge, gentle and so white! "Ooooh!" She squealed as he nudged her, instantly smitten by the beauty and friendly temperament of the magical creature, he wasn't anything like the horses they had in the Atlan Empire and hardly evil. His coat was so soft, his big brown eyes were so kind, it was almost as if he was trying to communicate with her, like an intelligent being. Fears of the mythical creature dissolved as she saw how calm and loving it was. "Ha ha, he's so soft!"
Feeling the love emanating from her heart, Neter slipped his arm around her waist, bringing her close, taking the affectionate moment into a third dimension. His passionate touch fanned her flames of desire, she was losing consciousness again… He pulled her closer… He wanted to kiss her... She could tell… She wanted to kiss him too… She wanted to run her fingers through the crazy wild hair on his chest...

         "Oh... my... god!"
         "OH! MY! GOD!"
         "OH!!!! MY!!!! GOD!!!!"
The tender moment was interrupted by gasps of disgust rising from the crowds around them. Eden spun around to see what was going on but she couldn't see the stage, a tent was in the way. Suddenly she remembered her assignment...
Conscious once again, she could sense the focus of the telescope closing in on her from the Villa above… She didn't dare look.
"Um.... Would you like to come up to the Villa?"
Neter glanced up the hill. "I think we should stay and watch the next band" he returned his focus to her terrified face with a smile and kissed her head, tenderly. He glanced at the stage, there was a tent in the way... "Let's go find a better place to watch."

The view from the bleachers was perfect, the shade from the Oak tree helped to obscure their presence, the salon friends settled down for the show prepared with their own libations. Feeling adequately ignored, Torus pulled out his pipe, but when he searched for his lighter it was missing. He gave Nolan a nudge.
         "Got a light?"
Nolan glanced at the pipe in his hand. "Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Torus didn't answer, or lower his hand. Nolan reached into his pocket, handed over his lighter and Torus lit the bowl. With a deep breath, he inhaled the happy smoke and exhaled into the air to demonstrate his absence of care.
"Oh.... My.... GOD!" Mel was the first to spot the obscenity on the royal stage, she covered her eyes and looked away as the Crystalites presented themselves.
"Oh.... My.... GOD!" Dena turned to see. Like Mel, she turned away in disgust, hands over her eyes.
"What?" Coughing on the smoke now, Torus too spotted the new band emerge onto the stage. He had never seen aribu like that before! "What are they?"
For a moment, the group fell silent, debating whether what they were witnessing was actually real.
Torus was genuinely concerned. "What's wrong with them?" There was only one possible scenario. "Did Malodon make those?"
"They're PREGNANT!" Mel was obviously angry. "It's DISGUSTING"  she hissed, unable to look.
"Ugh! I can't look at them, that's, like, SO GROSS!" Dena chimed.
"I can't BELIEVE they're allowed to go up on stage like that" Mel scolded, dreading the fallout now. "OH. MY. GOD. I need an EYE WASH!" She fanned her face with increasing anxiety. "SOMEBODY tell me this isn't really happening!"
"Why would they do that?" Nolan wondered out loud, amazed by what he saw, he had never seen anything like it before.
"What the fuck's a pregnant?" Torus hissed, angry with them for their goddess secrets.
"They have a Product growing inside" Dena explained. "I hate to break it to you but once upon a time all Gens were bred inside a stomach like that."
"SHUT UP!" Torus spat on the ground and lit the pipe again. "That’s just SICK!"
"We still make Products that way" Dena informed.
"Only the Goldens" Mel corrected. "We weren't made like that, thank Medel!"

Everyone was shocked by the sight of the new band, most of the aribu turned away, covering their eyes as the pregnant goddesses emerged with their Golden Weapons, that weren’t any sort of weapon anyone expected them to be, clad in such seductive, translucent dresses. No one knew what to think. The Crystallites seemed oblivious to their offence, they were glowing, they were taking over the royal stage like they owned it, demonstrating their absence of care.

"Aren't they embarrassed?" Dena wondered, confused by their glowing presentation.
"Why would they be?" Nolan felt a strange attraction to the pregnant goddesses. A sudden urge of desire was overwhelming him as he beheld the supernatural wonder. He had never seen a pregnant goddess before although unlike Torus, he knew a little bit about breeding, with a friend like Josh, he was informed of the exclusive details of such a procedure. To Nolan, they appeared magical, even though they were so strangely deformed, they were captivatingly attractive, exquisitely rebellious on the royal stage all dressed in sexy sheers, their hair twisted and woven so seductively, adorned with sparkling crystal beads. The Crystallites were eye candy... He needed no eye wash.

One of the Crystallites took the front of the stage, introducing the band the crowd.

For a moment, Eden forgot both her assignment and her new found lust as she beheld the shocking development on stage. "Oh. My. God…" She covered her mouth too as the pregnant presentation unfolded, right below the mighty idol of Medel. She knew now, in her gut, there was no way Atalon organized this. Terrified, she glanced up towards the Villa, unable to control her own reactions now. How could Atalon not be exploding by now? He obviously knew what was happening!
A feeling of dread gripped her now in the worst way, things were spiraling out of control faster than she could handle, she didn't know how to react to the situation unfolding, her thoughts were seizing up in fear of the inevitable fallout. She was angry too, confused between lust and hate, love and fear, lies and truth, it was the Lemurians that were making her malfunction! She scanned the crowds... Everyone looked like they were malfunctioning! This was sorcery! Pure Serpent Sorcery unfolding right before their eyes!
