2.71 Unlawful Tramps

"Overnight, the children of the jailed protesters became the replacement dissent" Akku continued. "Upset and unattended they began getting into trouble. Once again, Atalon consulted the old king. The old king taught him that the children needed their parents to nurture and educate them.
Thus Atalon employed rebel rousers to lead them farther astray. The children got into even more trouble, causing unrest amongst the communities, soon they became Unlawful Tramps. So in order to save the people from these Unlawful Tramps, Atalon introduced a School Law, employing these Origian Great Teachers as Prefects to nurture and give them a proper education.
The slaves thought it was a great idea, so all the slave children were invited to attend. But unbeknownst to the slaves, the children were to be educated in the new Origian language. At first the slaves appreciated the education for their children, they even liked the idea of their children learning a new language. But little could the children share of what they learned, the slaves believed their children were getting a real education and thought little ill of it. But as the children grew up, the truth began to leak out and the slaves began to discover their children were being told lies in school, devastating lies, lies about their past, condemning their family traditions.
This rekindled the flames of the Truther movement, pods of activists gathered in secrecy to learn the truth about these Origian Great Teachers and figure out what to do.
Atalon heard rumors of this new unrest, he saw the posters and Truther teachings written in the ground. He deployed a troop of Origian Officers to enforce laws against public announcement, warning that violators would have a dishonorable death by tortured execution. It was a terrifying time" Akku continued with a solemn tone, "there weren't many slaves that dared make a stand. It was only a matter of time before the new language began to take over society, the new language that only the youth and Origians could understand. One day the signs were changed, then the street names were changed, books and tablets were swapped out, one by one the old slaves became alienated from their children, from the emerging culture around them, a culture that was exploding out of the new schools in a new language which they couldn't understand, and a new past they didn't know."
Flashbacks of the red folders returned instantly, the strange texts and symbols which Zara couldn't understand were ancient history… Suddenly she began to realize the hidden languages in Atlan were very much a reality today.
"News and articles of the old slaves and their dysfunctional Serpent genetics suddenly became popular however the old slaves couldn't read them" Akku continued to lift the veil. "Unbeknownst to the elder and now illiterate slaves, suddenly it became trendy to laugh at their 'archaic and evil' Serpent ways, their 'conspiracy theories', their Archon slash Phoenix philosophies and silly sing song music.
One by one the new generation grew embarrassed of their heritage and disowned their aging families. They had wealth and could afford to live down town in the new apartment buildings that Orius designed, apartments suited for the young, independent slaves." Zara felt a chill run down her spine. "Unable to speak the new language, the aging slaves were unable to find work, without the help and support of their younger family, their homes on the outer skirts of the city became dilapidated and fell to ruin. Their apparent inability to thrive proved to the new, educated generation that the lies were in fact true, that the Star people slaves were an inferior race, and soon, everyone wanted to be like the Origians.
Without the care and support from their children, the aging slaves began to die off, just as planned. Atalon had managed to make the children destroy their own families, the more impoverished their parents became, the more disgraced the children became of their parents. And so the children became enslaved by lies, convinced the lies were true. And if any of the slaves questioned the status quo, popular opinion ruled that the Star people were simply too stupid to learn the new language, that they had brought about the poverty they found themselves in, simply because of their lazy and archaic Serpent ways."
