Halios glanced at the hourglass on the
wall, feeling the stab of indigestion as he gulped down the rest of his meal.
"Torus
was supposed to be here an hour ago! What sort of gravel invoice takes over an
hour?"
"I
don't know…" Halki scanned the Gourmet Chamber as if Torus was about to
show up. "He ought to be here by now… Maybe they needed last minute help
with the Dog Show? I wouldn't worry too much, there must be a good reason he's
late. You and I both know he wouldn't let this thing get screwed up! He
actually wants to go to Fomora!"
"Are those actual dogs?" Hedena craned to discern from the Villa
Balcony, everyone had heard about Malodon's dogs and rumors of the Dog Show had
been party chit chat for a few days now but she had pictured dogs, not
dog-like-things. Unbeknownst to Hedena, Medena was furious, the dogons were the
least of her concerns.
"He's
sacrificing one of my best examples! He's out of his GOD DAMNED MIND!"
"I
AGREE!" Hedena saw her point.
"Why didn't he sacrifice EDEN? EDEN'S the whoring slut of the day, NOT MEL!"
"Come!"
Medena snatched her hand. "We can't let Atalon get out of control like
this!"
But
as they made their way through the patio doors into the living room, they saw
the fragmented Crystal skull, shattered across the floor, Medena's heart sank,
instantly.
"Mighty
Medel" she gasped, frozen in shock. "He smashed his Crystal
Skull! LOOK! They made him go COMPLETELY
INSANE!"
The harbor-bound flock collected quickly at the courtyard gates, Bell was growing nervous as they amassed before him, and it wasn't just the Lunies, there were aribu dotted amongst them!
He
scanned the hill behind him, where was Halios? Feeling naked without orders,
the complete lack of preparation had left him with limited manpower, the lack
of knowledge rendered him weak against the forces he was facing, the aribu would
never step out of line like this, it had to be some sort of Sorcery, he was
basically unarmed and didn't know what to do, should push come to shove.
"We'd
like to leave now" Mina approached the gate first.
"I'm
sorry, Ma’am" he replied. "I can't allow that. Firmary Orders."
"Open
the gates Bell" Vikkar stepped forward from the crowd.
Caught
now by lower rank, Bell scanned his surroundings again for signs of support,
but there was no sign of help.
"You'll
have to clear it with Halios" he replied.
"And
where is Halios so that he can give you that order?" Vikkar stepped
closer, clutching the sword. Bell's eyes followed his hand, his own
intelligence was telling him that the god of Lightning was going rogue and he
wasn't messing around.
"I'm
not sure" he confessed, humbled in front of the attentive audience.
"I think he's probably with Halki prepping the firework show for the
audience you're stealing."
Mel's
screams were only getting louder, Vikkar didn't have even a second for Bell's
bullshit.
"Stand
back" he warned, raising the legendary weapon above the crowd, instantly
it flickered with lights, crackling around the blade as it caught the last rays
of the sun. The crowd moved back as he wound it around, sparks burst forth like
a pinwheel star until with a powerful blow, he struck the lock, blasting the
gate off it's hinges, blowing Bell and his soldiers backwards into the dirt.
Cheers erupted as the gates landed with a loud clang in a billow of dust.
"THE SHIP TO LEMURIA LEAVES WITH THE SUN,
WELCOME ABOARD, THERE IS ROOM FOR EVERYONE!"
Vikkar
swung the sword in the direction of the harbor, inviting them all to board his
ship. Adon gasped with a laugh as the drama unfolded, as the winds of fate
turned direction right before their eyes.
"See?
You were right, Bell, I was better off waiting outside!"
It
was one smart answer too many. Bell lunged straight for his throat. Another
billow of dust rose up from the ground as the merchants crashed to the ground
in angry force. With unleashed rage, Bell pounded his face hard, his aggressor
defenseless against his physical might.
"CUT!"
Vikkar bellowed above them, the sword still sparking.
Burned
by sparks, Bell rolled off, staggering to his feet, brushed the dirt from his
clothes and lifted his finger at Vikkar.
"Fuck you!" He spat a mouth full of
dirt into the ground. "Whose side
are YOU on anyway, ASSHOLE!"
The sisters were only half way down Main St before Medena spotted the stream of Lemurians heading towards the harbor.
"LOOK!" She stopped in her tracks,
pointing towards the scene. Then, to her horror she spotted Dena amongst them,
arm in arm with Nepheus!
"DE-E-E-NA!" She shrieked with
brand new fury. "YOU'RE GOING TO
LOSE YOUR VIP TICKET FOR THIS!"
"Oh
my god…" Dena felt the once unfamiliar flutter of panic in her body
strike once again when she heard her name hollered down main St by the one and
only Medena. She felt like she was going to throw up, she was having a heart
attack, this was, like, the worst nightmare ever! This was it! This was The
End, she could feel it! She hung her head in shame, staring down at her feet,
moving along in the direction of the ship, moving all on their own, she had no
control, the competing desire was too great. As she reached the ramp she knew,
there was no turning back, now it was official...
"THEY'RE GETTING AWAY!"
The
adrenaline pumping hard through Dena's veins was a brand new experience, it was
giving her a rush, a high, almost as if she was
doing the Right Thing! As she shuffled up the ramp, surrounded by so many
others engaging in this dangerous and amazing rebellion, she realized it
actually felt good…
A
slight smile broke out as she became conscious of the reality. This was, in
fact, the most fun and excitement she had ever had in her whole life!
"STOP THEM! DON’T LET THEM GET AWAY!"
Nepheus
smiled, he could feel Dena’s energy shifting, her Phoenix Flame really was hatching from it’s gold hard
shell, it was filling him with hope, stoking his own flames within.
But
for Medena, it was the final straw, there was an enormous disaster unfolding,
unfolding so fast she didn't know what to do, these were their very best
breeders running off with the Lemurians onto their ship! She threw her arms up
in dismay.
"Well,
there goes the New Nefilim race!"
Hedena
let out a heavy sigh, feeling the pain, she was so close to having a New Life,
she knew the truth about the Solstice Celebration, now all the Gen DNA would be
polluted, there was no saving them.
"GOOD
RIDDANCE!" Medena snapped, seeing the new light. "OBVIOUSLY
we were salvaging a bunch of GARBAGE
GENS. Those Lunies are saving us from A
COMPLETE AND UTTER DISASTER! Ha! New Nefilim Race from that heap! What a JOKE!"
Hedena
was joining dots all on her own now, it was just one too many coincidences that
were stacking up. Within just a few weeks the entire Gen population had become
virtually extinct.
"Do
you think maybe someone already realized that?"
